North Wales Borderlands

Ceiriog Valley (Dyffryn Ceiriog) is a valley in the north east of Wrexham, with some of it reaching into Shropshire in England. Prime Minister David Lloyd George described it as “a little bit of heaven on earth”.

The Clwydian Range (Bryniau Clwyd) describes a range of mountains and hills running from Llandegla to Prestatyn that are classified as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. From the summit of some of the highest hills you can see to the Peak District, Snowdonia and across Wales.

Holt is a medieval market town in Wrexham which hosts Holt Castle, one of Edward I’s efforts. There’s a medieval market cross in the centre of the town, and the beautiful church of St Chad has elements dating back to the 15th century. Check out the adorable 14th century sandstone bridge across the River Dee!
